John Dabney6Sims (John5, William4, Bruster3, Edward2, William1), was born 3 October 1802, Hanover County, Virginia, will made 27 August 1873, will filed 22 April 1878, Ellis County, Texas.[400] He married 12 September 1823, (date of bond), Maury County, Tennessee, to Elizabeth Coleman Elliott,[401] born 1804, Goochland County, Virginia,[402] will made 27 August 1873, will filed 19 November 1880, Ellis County, Texas.[403] In Virginia the name was usually spelled Ellett.

John D. and Elizabeth Sims are buried in Bethel Cemetery in Ellis County, Texas. The tombstone for J. D. Sims says born 1802, died April 1879. The death date should be 1878. The stone for Elizabeth Sims says born 1804, died February 1881. The death date should be 1880.[404]

Bethel Cemetery is southwest of Waxahachie on Farm to Market Road 876. Turn right at Five Points on Bethel Anderson Road. Go north 1.5 miles to the cemetery which is on the right.

Elizabeth Coleman Elliott was the daughter of John P. Elliott (Ellett), born between 1775 and 1780,[405] Virginia, will made February 1847, proved May 1850, Maury County, Tennessee,[406] and Frances ——, born 28 August 1781, King William County, Virginia, died 26 November 1843, Maury County, Tennessee, married 21 January 1802, moved to Tennessee in 1810, had four children.[407]
