He married 1 June 1920, Gainesville, Cooke County, to Minnie McBee, born 17 September 1895, Gainesville, died 10 November 1979, Harlingen, Cameron County, Texas. Minnie was the daughter of Josephus Patty McBee and Sarah Ralston Ratcliff. David S. and Minnie Martin are buried in Valley View Cemetery, Valley View, Cooke County, Texas. David S. Martin served in World War I. He enlisted in the Navy in April 1918 and was trained at Mare Island, California. He was a fireman first class. He was assigned to transport duty on the Liberator and made four trips convoying troops. The Liberator ran between Brooklyn, New York, and Brest, Soulac, and Bordeaux, France. He was discharged in April 1919. David and Minnie Martin lived in Lubbock, Texas, in 1930. |
