Rachel married second, circa 1878, to R. S. Hoad.[2220]

In the 1850 census, Rachel was Nancy E. Daniel. In the 1860 census she was Nancy E. M. Daniel. When she married Thomas S. Thompson in 1867, she was Nancy R. Daniel. In the 1870 census she was Rachel S. Thompson. She renamed herself Rachel Sims Daniel and that was her name beginning in 1870.

T. S. and Rachel S. Thompson lived near Alvarado, Johnson County, Texas, in 1870.[2221] Rachel Hoad and her children lived in Dallas County, Texas, in 1880. The entire family has the surname Hoad in the 1880 census. Jesse T., M. F., James M., and Luther Hoad should be Thompson and not Hoad.[2222]

Rachel Hoad and her son, James M. Thompson, lived in Hamilton County, Texas, in 1900.[2223] Rachel Hoad lived alone in Hamilton County, Texas, in 1910, in the same neighborhood as her sons, James M. and Luther A. Thompson, and her brother, John W. Daniel.[2224]
